Let me tell you a little secret…
I’m a true homebody. I love family. I love home.
I’m wife to Dan. Mom to 5 amazing kids, 3 boys and 2 girls; so, I guess that’s technically a full house.
I’m a taxi driver by evening and modern homemaking momma by day. I thrive on a good morning latte and afternoon tea (even though I’m trying to cut back on caffeine). I’m think a lot about home and family, disability inclusion and I enjoy helping others design their home into functional, cozy and accessible spaces. IAs a stay at home mom, I think half my time is spent in the kitchen. Whether it’s takeout pizza night or a home cooked meal, our family runs on loud meals, gathered around the table. I know modern families have busy schedules, just like ours, so I share recipes and routines that help us just get to the table.
I have one child who was born with a birth defect which caused paralysis. I have learned much about wheelchair life in the past 15 years, but honestly, disability adaptations and inclusion have been a big part of my adulthood. In college I worked at summer camp for kids with different disabilities which led me to my Master’s Degree Capstone to find adaptations for inclusive classrooms. I never knew I would also do that for my own home.
I was diagnosed at the age of 41 with ADHD after 2 of my kids were diagnosed with it. Many people probably think I am lying when I say this because on the outside, I look like I have it together in my calm demeanor, but really my brain is working overtime to keep everything in order. Think of the book “If you give a mouse a cookie”…. that’s me. I am a work in progress that’s for sure.
I love the connection in all our beautiful and difficult stories. That’s why I hope this space is as much as a landing site where you can find information about home and family life, as it is a place to connect with others.
Thanks for stopping by. I’m so glad you’re here!
Jill
